Laughton Greenwood extends over 171 acres. It sits between the B2124 Laughton Road and the A22 in East Sussex, nestled between the village of Laughton and Whitesmith. It is bordered by Park Lane on the west side.
There are 2 entrances;
1) VERT LANE CORNER – If you come to stroll around the woods at any time, park near Vert Lane byway. There are 3 spaces on Park Lane for the general public beside a metal gate.
2) KEEPERS GATE – If you come to a Laughton Greenwood event, such as a nature walk or volunteering day, come to the car park at Keepers Gate. Turn into the wood, through 2 wooden gates, and then up a bumpy track to our car park and the Carpenters Hut.

There are many pathways through the wood that we’re working to signpost for you. We ask all our visitors to stay on these paths because we want to give our wildlife the best chance of surviving and thriving. The map below shows different routes – why not try them all!
There’s an accessible byway running through the middle of the wood from the entrance on Park Road that extends for around a mile, exiting onto Broomham Lane. You’ll also find a public footpath which takes you out of Laughton Greenwood and into the surrounding countryside.
We don’t allow camping or unsupervised fires in the woods, but you can hire space for events and meetings during the day.

Directions
By car/bike/motorbike
Access to the woods in on Park Lane where there are a limited number of parking spaces at Vert Lane corner.
If you’ve hired space in the woods, you can enter through Keepers Gate where there’s additional parking. If you have the ‘Three Words’ app, use buggy.glitter.padlock. to find the gate.
By bus
The number 54, Uckfield-Eastbourne bus stops at Broomham Lane (in both directions). From here, you can enter the woods on foot. Turn right onto Vert Lane and you’ll find the byway that runs through the wood.
The number 28 Eastbourne-Brighton bus stops at
Stonecross Business Centre. From here, it is a 17 minute walk along Park Lane to the Vert Lane entrance into the woods. For the Keepers Gate entrance, it is a 27 minute walk along Park Lane.
Alternative transport options include the Flexibus. This is a relatively new, on-demand rideshare service. Details can be found on the East Sussex County Council website:

From Lewes and Brighton
From Polegate and Eastbourne
Take the A22 toward Uckfield. Look out for the B2124 signpost to Laughton and Lewes on the left hand side after Golden Cross. Stay on this road for about 1.5 miles and then turn right onto Park Lane (marked for East Hoathly). Continue for about a mile to the parking area by Vert Lane, the single track off on the right. You’ll see the Laughton Greenwood information board as you enter.
From Uckfield and Forest Row
Take the A22 toward Eastbourne. Keep straight on this road and take a turn onto Park Lane. You’ll see the Thatched on the corner of Park Lane. Continue for about a mile to the parking area by Vert Lane, the single track off on the right. You’ll see the Laughton Greenwood information board as you enter.
